Nancy O'Dell began her broadcast career as an anchor and reporter for WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She later worked as morning news anchor and the crime reporter at WCBD TV. Her reporting in Charleston about the police's leniency toward DUI cases has led to an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division investigating the cases. Ms. O'Dell was honored by The Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year Award all media South Carolina. O'Dell's work in Charleston has led to her serving as co-anchor, investigative report and NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Before she joined Access Hollywood she was a anchor on the weekdays and was also the NBC weekend co-anchor. O'Dell's current role as host for Access Hollywood is complemented by her work on NBC News Today, Dateline NBC as well as NBC News. She covered events such as The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. As well as co-hosting the Pre Show Arrivals in preparation for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. The other shows she has hosted include the Miss USA pageant, and Miss Universe.
